3 miles, 32:00, 10:40 pace, 156 average heart rate.
8 miles this week, 188 miles total.
Better run all the way around today. Of course, it was only three miles. And now that I think about it, the training program called for four miles. Damn. In any event, I drank plenty of water yesterday and was feeling much better, even though my heart rate was still higher than I would like. The temperature is in the lower 80's and the humidity is still high, but not as bas as yesterday. I've got 15 mile this Saturday, and I'm working day shifts, so it will be an evening run.

Run #38
5 miles, 55:14, 11:03 pace, 167 average heart rate.
5 miles this week, 185 miles total.
When I got back from Montana last week I had some down with a cold, which ended up lasting into this week, so I skipped a couple runs. Since my training program is 18 weeks, and I started it 20 weeks before the marathon, this shouldn't cause a problem. I'm still sneezing a bit, but the head congestion is cleared up.
Today's run wasn't too good. When I woke up this morning my watch had run all out of power. By the time it had charged up it was raining. And when I finally got outside, it was very humid. My legs and lungs felt alright, but I knew I hadn't been drinking enough water the past couple days, so things just didn't feel right, overall. My heart rate was way too high, too. The distance was supposed to be 7 miles, but I stopped at five. Everything is fine now, so hopefully things will go better tomorrow.

Run #37
3 miles
3 miles this week, 180 miles total.
This run was from Tuesday last week when I was visiting college friends in Helena, Montana. Sometime between then and today my watch automatically reset, so I lost all the data. I remember that I felt pretty sluggish throughout, perhaps due to the elevation.

Run #36
10 miles, 1:51:03, 11:07 pace, 151 average heart rate.
24 miles this week, 177 miles total.
Hello from South Dakota. The weather is very nice here today. 70 F, sunny, dry, and there is a light breeze. I was out with a high school friend last night, so I didn't get going until 10:30 this morning, and I may have had one more beer than I should have given today's distance, but it was still pretty good.
Once again, my heart rate was higher than it should be. Since this is South Dakota, the trail was very flat, so it wasn't like I was going up big hills or anything. I could slow down even more, but it already feels like I'm shuffling along. Aside from that, there weren't any problems. I didn't bring the Camelbak, so I carried a water bottle. Didn't use the Jelly Belly Sport Beans, either. Next week.
Time for a shower, haircut, and then off to the RyanT wedding.

Run #35
4 miles, 42:18, 10:35 pace, 144 average heart rate.
14 miles this week, 167 miles total.
Of my last four runs, the two with the slowest pace have resulted in the highest average heart rate. That's weird. Today was also the hottest it's been in about six weeks. Just 81 F, so not hot in an absolute sense, but also rather humid. Despite that, the run was very easy. My shoes were still making that odd sound, but the right shoe quieted down eventually, so maybe this will resolve itself.
I hit the road tomorrow morning. On Saturday I'll be in Sioux Falls, SD, for a wedding. This week's long run is a step back to 10 miles. Then, on Tuesday I'll be in Helena, MT, visiting college friends, and that will be a 3 miler. I get back to Princeton on Wednesday afternoon, and will do that 7 when I get home.

Run #34
7 miles, 1:14:39, 10:40 pace, 149 average heart rate.
10 miles this week, 163 miles total.
I'm writing this one day after the fact because I was in the rush to meet a friend last night, and then forgot to write when I got home.
The run was pretty easy...felt easier than the three miles on Tuesday, anyway. The heels of my shoes started making a weird sound like I was stepping on a rubber ducky, so I wonder if I'll have to buy another pair. Hopefully not. I also noticed a small pain just below my left hip. It doesn't hurt when I run or walk, but just when I apply a bit of pressure.

Run #33
3 miles, 30:19, 10:07 pace, 147 average heart rate.
3 miles this week, 156 miles total.
I started off this run in a bad mood because of a work softball game, and try as I might, I couldn't shake the negative thoughts. Luckily, it was a short run. I started off really good. The movement was easy and relaxed, but by the middle I was feeling a bit more sluggish. Just relatively, though. It still was pretty easy. Ideally, my average heart rate would be a little lower. My pace was slowed due to waiting twice at stop lights. On the walk back to my house I felt a little twinge in my right calf, but it was went away as soon as I got home.
